Biography

My name is Virginia Brown. I've lived in Orlando, FL since 1990 and I consider it my honorary hometown, because it's where I've lived the longest. Before moving to Florida, I lived in Venezuela, where I was born, and, for about 2 years as a child, I lived in Philadelphia, PA.

In Venezuela I graduated from Medical school at the "Universidad del Zulia" in the city of Maracaibo, in 1975. After completing a year of Rural Medicine practice at the East Coast of the Maracaibo Lake, well-know for one of the greatest reserve of petroleum in the world, few years of internship and a residency, I started my Masters of Science in Otolaryngology at the “Universidad Central de Venezuela," which I completed in December of 1981. After moving to Florida in 1993, I decided to change careers to use my skills to heal people in a more holistic way and heal souls instead of bodies.  I graduated with my second masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College in 1996.

Since then, I have worked at different non-profit agencies, mostly at community centers offering services to children from schools and their families, and, about 2 years I took a break from counseling to teach classes to students of health-related programs at a local private college.  I have also spent time working as an academic tutor and a group facilitator for DUI groups and batterer intervention/domestic violence groups.

I currently work as a family counselor at a community center in East Orlando.
